Matt Bowing Out…

As you may have noticed, the updates on the RRY site and the RRY Israel site have stopped rolling somewhat…correction, they’ve dug themselves a nice deep ditch and stopped altogether. My apologies for that; matric and all that seemed to have got in my way. However there is good news and bad news.

The bad first: After much prayer and debating I have made the decision to leave UUPC (and thus RRY) to get together with people of my own age group, which, I feel, will be the most beneficial to my own spiritual growth. The journey at UUPC has been amazing and I have grown a tremendous amount spiritually and otherwise in my time here, but I feel as I open the next chapter of my life, it is time to move on. Thanks for everything UUPC!

Now for the good: Obviously I won’t be contributing any more to both the RRY and the RRY IE site, but that job will be left in the very capable hands of Chris Fuller, all updates and the like will be authored by him in future! All the best Chris!

Building the RRY and RRY IE sites and running them has been a lot of fun! Thanks for all the comments and views (Mainly to the Tabernacle stuff) and I hope you found the Truth of Christ in everything we’ve done here. Look out for more frequent updates in the future from Chris, but from myself, Matt, God bless and thanks for the ride!

Coleby Farm Trip Added

As usual for all our outdoor trips, we send ‘em to their own “perma-page.” Click here or check the sidebar under “Our Pages” to check out our trip to the Coleby farm!

As many of our members aren’t here for RRY for the past few weeks so updates from the RRY Israel Tour have been temporarily put on hold, sorry! We’ll start updates soon as time and members allow.

Kairos Prison Ministry #10

As some of you might know, our youth leader, Alex, is heavily involved in an amazing prison ministry which reaches out to the hardened criminals and local inmates in our local jails with the message, love and Gospel of Jesus Christ.

From the feedback we’ve been getting the experience was life-changing for both the volunteers and the inmates, and to find out more about this ministry, click here.

Below some images of the team that took part in Kairos #10 which took place recently:

We’ve implemented a new slideshow system! It’s more dynamic, all you have to do is sit back and relax! Seeing an image saying “Slide(r)” and a progress bar is normal. When it reaches 100% the images will play. Enjoy!

…and after a long pause…

I know the updates have all but stopped since February, but it’s been because we’ve been hard at work on the Israel Site. Granted, that hasn’t seen updates for the past few weeks either, but that’s my fault because I’ve been very busy–I’ll send the updates online as soon as I can, you can read the R&D development on the Israel site. (click the sidebar image)

Apart from that, today is a very important day: Good Friday. The day that the Creator of the world, Jesus Christ, died so cruelly and painfully on the cross to wash away the sins of the world. The scriptures are pivotal, in fact the death and resurrection of Christ is the point which the entire Bible points to. We are truly humbled by God’s amazing grace and love for His creation. Reflect on today, take a look at this video:

Thanks to “jlokey82″ for the video.

What Went Down–6 February 2011

Seeing as today was the once-monthly Communion service, we headed into the main Service. It wasn’t just Communion though, because 2 of our members were inducted into the Church’s eldership. It was a really special service and included our own SNAC band (yes, that’s us) to play “Go Light Your World.”

‘Cause n0 progress was made on the Israel Experience, you might like to hit the site and check out a latest video…

Seeya all again next week when RRY continues…updates will continue here as well as the Israel experience site, by the way!

What Went Down–30 January 2011

Today marks Day 1 of the R&D into the new “RRY Israel Experience” book. Click here to find out more.

Being slightly outnumbered by the ladies today, Alex and myself brought our laptops and together Claire, Kayla, Jess and Anne [with "e"?] (sorry, read comment below, Ann…)started by finding all the Scripture passages associated to the events we’re covering in the Experience. A lot of laughing, copy/pasting, shouting at slow internet and the like, all the many Scripture verses were neatly collated into an Excel spreadsheet. That makes “Part 1″ [Scripture] complete. (Click the link to find out about the different stages in completion for each event!)

Hit the RRY Israel Site for more info about the progress of the project…

NOTE: Next week (6 February 2011) there’s Communion, and Elder induction, so we’ll go into the church. See you all then!

Big Plans–2011!

Welcome to 2011 everyone…this year has been prepared in advance by the “Youth Steering Committee” and wow do they have a big idea for youth this year: making a book! (yes, with an ISBN and a proper barcode!) The details are still in the “lets kinda get this going” stage but here’s what we can tell you…

  • The book will be about AN ISRAEL TOUR. So we’ll detail the main events happening in the Bible, the places where they occurred, interesting pictures, media and of course all the Bible verses relating to it, along with a timeline of when the respective events occurred.
  • A new blog will be set up in conjunction with this one to detail the process in making the book, the content inside and anything relating to it.
  • We’ll each, individually, and as a group, handle the various tasks we’ll need to get through to source stuff for the book, and even accommodation, logistics and the like will be planned out so if we actually were going the trip would flow. (not jumping around locations; that’s impractical)
  • Software, like Google Maps, Earth, the Glo Bible, and RapidStudio will be the main tools for getting this thing done!
  • A planning spreadsheet will tell us whether we’re on track, and we’ve also got “Sunday School Mentorship” along with some cool outings planned for 2011!
  • With Christ as our guide, lets hope 2011 will become one of RRY’s best years!

Keep your eyes peeled to our blog, the new blog name will be online shortly, and any updates to the process will hit this site first…so keep watching!
